I agree. Over the past 20 years the control has moved from the parents to the children. Parents now pamper their children excessively. This is manifested in allowing the child to dictate what their regular diet is, which normally is high fat/high carb (hot dogs/mac and cheese) and how much and when they wish to eat. Behavior that once would have sent parents ballistic is now tolerated like laying around all day or sitting and playing video games for hours.
I call bullshit on all the "too much food too little exercise". My nephew is having weight issues at 10. He is in karate every day, swims and my sister monitors his food carefully which he does have a tendency to want to eat lots of carbs like all kids.
We are from a skinny family, all of us can still eat just about anything we want and it takes months for weight gain to start showing... and then there is my nephew (only child in the family) who is having to watch is calorie intake at 10. At 10 I was eating a box of donuts for breakfast on the way to school, and I would have a bowl of froot loops for breakfast with so much sugar on them there would be sludge at the bottom of the bowl.
Something else has changed. If I had to guess I would say the quantity of plastics we are exposed too and the estrogen-like properties are like putting all of our kids on steroids.
The older people like myself just aren't feeling the effects to the same degree because we don't eat the same crap - and we have already gone through our growth spurts.
