Open Letter to a Clueless Activist Friend

Sorry.

Sorry to hear about the court decision. That's pretty fucked up. I know you followed this issue closely.

And sorry, I won't be able to take care of the car you left behind while you travel.

Between listening to the Detroit Three CEOs beg for money from taxpayers this morning and considering Chevron's victory over human rights, having a car dumped on us is rich in ironic insult, no?

I stopped owning a car because of the impacts on the environment, human rights issues, and because I didn't want to worry about stupid shit like moving a vehicle across the street on at the crack of dawn to avoid parking tickets. My brain has no space for worrying about parking anymore.

Your car will be fine, and it will likely have a ticket. A memento to remind you that leaving a car with your carfree friends is like leaving a large hunk of meat on your vegetarian friends' doorstep and asking them to keep it safe in their fridge.

I love you dearly, and would do almost anything for you, except take care of your car.

Maybe you should sell it, to show Chevron who is boss.
